Environmental Specimens
Like biological samples, environmental samples need careful handling to preserve their chemical integrity as well as to prevent the growth of insects and microorganisms. Fisher BioServices has the best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handling environmental samples and for preventing cross contamination of these unique samples.
We store tap water, vacuum cleaner bags, soil samples, dust samples, air samples, cooked food samples, and others. We can advise on collection methods, provide the collection kits and supplies, as well as advise on optimal storage methods for downstream research.
Our expertise was acknowledged by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) when we were selected as the repository partner for the National Children’s Study (NCS), which is examining the effects of the environment on children’s health from before birth through age 21.
