Temperature Monitoring
Our cold storage units are monitored 24/7/365 by a temperature monitoring system, typically a GE Kaye LabWatch™ system. This system also monitors for humidity. Our Quality Assurance Department certifies the temperature probes to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)-traceable standards every six months to ensure correct temperature readings.
We can meet Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements for temperature compliance, and have the data to show that materials have been maintained at appropriate temperatures.
Most of our cold storage units have redundant compressors, which prevents temperature excursion even if the primary compressor should fail. However, should the temperature of any unit deviate from its acceptable range, the monitoring system will automatically notify repository personnel or on-call staff, day or night. Fisher BioServices retains multiple maintenance subcontractors who are on-call 24-hours per day, seven days per week, to repair or replace a malfunctioning unit.
